CNN and Foursquare partner for World Cup
Foursquare has launched a partnership with CNN to complement the network’s coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. CNN has highlighted venues in host nation South Africa as well as ones that will be hosting viewing parties around the world. They say users will be able to unlock exclusive badges by checking in at both the stadiums and the viewing parties.
Mashable reports that the two badges will be South Africa Explorer and Super Fan. South Africa Explorer (left) can only be earned by checking in at World Cup venues in South Africa, while Super Fan (right) can be earned at viewing parties around the world.
CNN joins a growing roster of companies launching partnerships with Foursquare, including TLC, the New York Times and the History Channel.
