BlackBerry 10 devices will come preloaded with Foursquare
BlackBerry (née RIM) held their launch event today for BlackBerry 10, officially unveiling the operating system and two new devices that will go on sale tomorrow in the UK and in March in the US. They also announced that Foursquare will be pre-installed on all BlackBerry 10 devices, joining Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Foursquare’s BlackBerry 10 app was previewed last September. In many ways it looks identical to its iPhone and Android counterparts, but retains the two major features that make the current BlackBerry version unique: sharing check-ins via BBM and using Explore without logging in.
BlackBerryOS.com posted a number of screenshots from the new version earlier this week. They report that location-finding is fast and the UI is incredibly smooth.
BlackBerry may be struggling to maintain marketshare, but they still sell a significant number of devices. Getting the Foursquare app pre-installed on all BlackBerry 10 devices is a major coup that should certainly help to increase their userbase in the coming months.
