Become the “Mobile Mayor” to win a Nokia N8 from Vodafone UK
The Nokia N8 will be released soon in the UK, and Vodafone is celebrating with a “Mobile Mayor” contest centered around the display models in six of their stores. Users who become the mayor of the Nokia N8 in each store by October 2 will win their own when the phones are released.
You’ll need to post one of your checkins to Facebook or Twitter (with the #MobileMayor hashtag) in order to be eligible, since that’s how winners will be contacted. Vodafone, thankfully, reminds users not to spam their friends each time they check in. The participating stores and official contest venues are below:
- London: Oxford Street Experience Store (N8 venue)
- Manchester: Market Street Experience Store (N8 venue)
- Leeds: 8-9 Commercial Street (N8 venue)
- Birmingham: New Street (N8 venue)
- Edinburgh: Princes Street (N8 venue)
- Glasgow: Buchanan St Experience Store (N8 venue)
There’s a seventh N8 up for grabs for the “most creative checkin,” which would presumably need to be posted to Facebook or Twitter.
This is the perfect time to run a Nokia-related contest on foursquare, since a quasi-official foursquare app is expected in the OVI store this week.
Vodafone has posted a video to describe exactly how the contest works. We should note that in order to become mayor, you must have a profile picture, unlike the foursquare newbie in the video.
