Baker’s Dozen: A badge for your sweet tooth

If you’re like me, you probably like bakeries… a lot more than your waistline says you should. Today there’s a new foursquare badge just for you: Baker’s Dozen. It honors users who’ve checked in at bakeries, well, a baker’s dozen times.

The unlock text reads:

A bakers dozen of bakery visits! You must really love the fresh-baked goodness of baguettes and beignets. Why not reward yourself by curling up with a nice croissant?

If you’re wondering how many times you’ve been to a bakery already, check out the category view on 4sqmap.com. It shows exactly how many checkins you’ve made in each category.

I love foursquare’s fun badges that honor seemingly random things (You’re Not in Kansas Anymore is one of my favorites for that reason). What do you think of the new badge? Let us know in the comments?

    Not only a new core badge, but one that comes at the height of Cupcake & like shops popping up everywhere… and not just in big cities…
    And posting the 4sqmap.com link helps satisfy everyone’s curiosity of “how long before I get it”

    Shouldn’t places like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme Donuts be “bakeries” as well?

      They could be.. but if you remember when the “Fresh Brew” badge came out… everybody complained that DD and like places should be categorized as “Coffee Shops” instead of “Bakeries” & “Cafes”… If you go changing stuff every time a new badge comes out to make it easier to obtain, I think it loses a bit of it luster and motivation to keep exploring… In my opinion of course…

        I agree with you, its just I feel a place that sells donuts should be a bakery. Although the issue arises when the categories don’t support that. Since I’m a superuser you can set a primary category and then have secondary categories.

        Can secondary categories count towards core badges?

      agreed, this should include some of the sub categories like Donut Shop, Cupcake Shop, Bagel Shop, etc..

      As a superuser, my opinion is Dunkin Donuts should be classified as a donut shop and a coffee shop. Recategorizing venues every time a new badge comes out defeats the whole purpose of foursquare, to go out and explore new places in your city.

    cosign about changing categories. DD and Krispy Kreme are donut places not bakeries

    I love this new badge. It’s one that wouldn’t take too long to get, assuming what shops are classified as what.

    This is a great badge to earn. Love the 4sqmap as well. I had no idea that I had not checked in to any bakery at all! It will be sweet to earn this badge as my checkins add up.

    Cupcake shops should count because that’s what the effen badge logo is.

      I’m pretty sure they do. I unlocked mine at a place categorized as bagel shop.

    So do we know if cupcake shops and dessert shops count or not? Also, do they have to be 13 different ones, or just 13 visits? 4sqmap shows I’ve been to a bakery 17 times, but if I add up bakery, cupcake and dessert, I only have 10 different places. I have 4 different bakeries. :(
