Wondering where to go this afternoon? Why not plan a foursquare badge crawl
If you’re looking for something to do this afternoon, why not try to fill your foursquare trophy case with a few badges? A new app, Badge Crawl, makes it easy to find the nearby places you should check in to earn foursquare’s core badges.
Once you link your foursquare account, Badge Crawl takes your last known check-in spot and looks for nearby venues that would apply to one of foursquare’s core badges you don’t already have. It may suggest a nearby bookstore — or three — where you can check in to earn the Bookworm badge, for instance.
Badge Crawl seems to have a pretty savvy understanding of the rules for each individual badge. It will tell you how many and which venues you should check in to today on your badge crawl and, if necessary, how many you need on a different day. It doesn’t include support for any of the partner badges.
If you’re desperate to earn that 7-10 Split badge today, then give Badge Crawl a try. Let us know what you think in the comments.

So this works great….
“Oops, an error occured
This exception has been logged with id 66g7i2eg4.”
It probably couldn’t find any venues that applied in your little hamlet
It’s working fine for me in Chrome and Firefox.
I get that error in FF and a 500 Internal Server Error in IE8….
but then these are both while at work behind the proxy from hell. Will try at home.
I’m getting an exception as well in Chrome (Win7) & Safari (iPad) …. and the 500 Internal Server Error in IE9.
Same error at home.
There is no such App at the market. Too bad seemed like a good idea. They should make the App available for down load
All I see is the map and nothing else. I’ve tried it using both my work computer running IE8 and my phone running Dolphin. And I know that I’m close to unlocking Pizzaiolo, so I don’t know what gives. Plus, it didn’t get my last check-in right before I loaded the site on my phone, so obviously there’s some delay before it can get the most recent check-in.
Agreed, the dynamics seem to be a little wonky, but the basis is solid. It primarily kept focusing on the Gym Rat, Outdoors, and Swimmie badges for me. I know I’m only one or two check-ins away from the Pizzaiolo badge and should be within one or two for the Fixer Upper badge as well. Not sure how it decides which badges to recommend, but at least I’m getting some results, even if it’s not quite as many as I’d like.
This is a great site. I never new how close all these badges are to me, and how close I am to getting them. I’ll definitely recommend this to anyone.
Got some results, actually helped find some miscategorized venues in the area that I’ve somehow missed with checkinmania.
It showed me some results that were pretty far away, such as needing 10 checkins to get the badge they were suggesting.
It’s working great for me (in Firefox). I really like this idea. It even suggested some nearby venues I didn’t know about.
This is pretty interesting. I’m actually tempted to go out and try a food truck that I didn’t know existed in my city after I get off of work.
I have tried FF and IE8 on Win7 at work, FF and Safari on OS X at home, and Safari on my iPad. Same error every time. No data. No results. Nothing but an error.
Not impressed.
Very disappointing …..
This worked superbly at first but as soon as I moved to another location it just crashed presenting the same error that everyone else has seen.
It showed some easy wins and things on my door step that I didn’t know about.
If they can fix that bug it will be great for entertainment whilst on the road, in europe and the US.
Works fine in Google Chrome. Listed out where I needed to check-in to get the long sought Outdoor badge
Does not work.
yess does not work…
It’s flawed! Great concept but it’s telling me 1 check in here or 2 check in’s there, but once you check in to the named venue & still no badge, it just gives you another venue!
Does someone have contact details for the developers? This is a great app. I got 2 badges using it from my work computer but I’m getting the same error as everyone else now from home.
I came in to work this morning and am getting the same errors now as everyone else.
I logged in and it said I needed TEN more check-ins for the Pizzaiolo badge. I checked into TWO places and got the badge.
What’s wrong with this system here?
It doesn’t do an audit of where you have checked in – it just finds badges you don’t have and then finds venues that would qualify for this. Specifically for the Pizzaiolo badge, it would be awesome if the tool could track previous checkins to let you know how close you are and what joints you still need to go to.
It was working fine and then I started getting an error. I have logged out, cleared cookies, cleared cache, everything I can think of. The error I receive is after the robots are searching….:
Oops, an error occurred.

Can someone please give me any guidance. Thanks for your help.
I think this is a great idea, however am disappointed with the results. It listed two badges I already have and as mentioned above, the number of check ins to get a badge aren’t accurate. I hope this is going to be developed more and further updates will be more successful.
What a great idea. It’d be great if not for it’s inability to work. Shame
This sounded great but after loging in once and it thinking I was in a whole different city it just stopped working.
Now all I get is “Oops, an error occured”
More Bugs. Changing location to a city outside the United States does not work. Ever since I tried, I keep getting suggested cities from within THE States; or, alternatively, I get the “sorry, No Badges Found” message. So Developer, please reveal yourself or at least fix the site.
