B-Roll: Uber incorporates Foursquare’s location database
A select group of Uber customers have received access to version 2.0 of the Uber iPhone app. It leverages Foursquare’s location database to make it easier for customers to request cars at their current location.
With data from Foursquare, users now longer need to know the address of the place they’re requesting a pickup. They can simply select it from a list of nearby Foursquare locations. The app now remembers your most frequent pick-up locations, as well.
Other changes include easier to understand rate displays; lots of bug fixes, performance improvements and design tweaks; and a faster backend.
The iPhone update will be rolling out to all users soon. An update for Android is also in the works.
