Audi launches interactive billboard in Times Square
Audi has launched a new interactive billboard in Times Square to show off the “bold design” of its new A7 coupe. The billboard features places, objects and destinations around New York that have shown bold design and incorporates foursquare checkins and tweets.
Foursquare (or Facebook Places) users who check in to the Audi A7 Experience will see their names and photos shown on the 15,000-square foot billboard. Tweets using Audi’s #BoldDesign hashtag will also appear.
Audi has left a tip on the foursquare venue (along with a QR code on the ad itself) that points users to an interactive site highlighting bold design in seven cities across the US. On mobile phones, it’s GPS-enabled to help visitors find the nearest featured location. Visitors can submit their own bold locations through the site.
Foursquare is very familiar with this particular billboard. It’s directly above the Times Square American Eagle store, where a foursquare ad ran last August.
There’s no reward for checking in to the billboard, but I think for many Times Square visitors, seeing their name and photo in lights would be enough to get them to check in. It gives Audi an good opportunity to connect with potential customers and show off their new car.
