Another Badge You’ll Never Earn: PK / JG 2010
There are bad wedding gifts, great wedding gifts and gifts that are so perfectly matched to the couple that they can’t be topped (no, Aunt Mabelle, I’m not talking about the camouflage quilt). Tonight the foursquare staff gave one of those gifts: a special badge just for a couple’s wedding. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind gift and I’m sure it’s something that the lucky couple, Paul and Janelle, will never forget.
The couple “kind-of met through dodgeball, but not really” and were married today in New York. Dodgeball was the predecessor of foursquare that Dennis Crowley sold to Google in 2005. It was based around the same concept as foursquare — checking in to let your friends know where you are — but was done completely through SMS.
Keeping true to foursquare’s goal of badges unlocking real life rewards, the couple can show the “badge to Teddy Salad for free drinks at Barcade FOR LIFE!”
Congratulations to Paul and Janelle!
