Advertising Options

Over the past two years, About Foursquare has grown into the largest blog covering foursquare, with a variety of content from apps and news to badges and a foursquare FAQ. More than 1.1 million unique visitors have found their way to the site, racking up more than 4 million pageviews. Each month sees more than 150,000 pageviews from 50,000 unique visitors. More than 14,000 fans follow us on Twitter.

We’re confident About Foursquare can provide a solid platform for advertisers. We’ve built a dedicated core of readers who visit on a daily basis, while others make their way in via search engines to our badge list and FAQ entries. Seeing as they’re almost all foursquare users, they’re typically early adopters who aren’t afraid to share their views with various social media platforms.

With that in mind, we’ve developed a few new advertising options as part of our recent redesign that you’ll find below. We’re also open to other ideas you may have.

Sidebar Ads

We offer two different size options for advertising in the sidebar: 125 x 125 sponsorship squares and a 280 x 200 rectangle. Both appear on the front page and every post on the site.

Front Page Banner

This 600 x 100 banner appears right above the first post on our homepage, which draws more than 35,000 pageviews a month. With prime placement above the fold, it’s sure to attract attention.

Site Wrap

One of the most interesting features of our new site design is the ability to offer a full site wrap by replacing the background image found on the site. Your ad will appear wrapped around the content on the left, right and top of every page of the site.

Given the pervasive nature of this option, we’re limiting these ads to no more than a two week run. Please note that they are not clickable, but do offer a very noticeable visual impact that’s perfect for new product launches, etc.

Images are 2600 wide by 640 tall, with the vast majority of users seeing at least 125 pixels width on each side of the content.

Badge List Sponsorship

The newest feature of our site is the foursquare badge list. We’re looking for a presenting sponsor to appear on every page of the badge list — a section of the site we expect to draw more than 15,000 pageviews each month from dedicated foursquare users.

A 680 x 150 banner appears at the top of each page of the badge list. These are the only ads that will appear on badge list pages.

In addition, as the presenting sponsor of the badge list, your name and a link to your site will appear at the bottom of each post about a new badge (approximately 3-5 per week) in the form of:

Badge posts are typically the most heavily visited posts on the site, drawing between 1,500 and 2,000 pageviews each every month.
