Tennis fans get an expertise badge
Golf fans got their expertise badge — Birdie — just in time for the Masters. With Wimbledon coming up, it means it’s time for tennis fans to get one of their own. For them, foursquare released the Ace badge earlier this afternoon.
Ace is an expertise badge. Just like other expertise badges, you can earn level one by checking in five times at the same tennis court or at three different tennis courts. Level two is unlocked when you’ve visited five different courts, and each subsequent level (up to ten) unlocks with each five new venues.
The unlock text reads:
You’ve stayed up ’til the wee hours to watch matches at Rod Laver Arena and Roland Garros and perfected your Johnny Mac outbursts and Sharapova shriek. Now prepare to face the likes of Novak Djokovic, slice an ace down the line, and make it a love game!
It’s funny they should mention Djokovic. He’s now a foursquare member, where you can follow him as he checks in at tennis tournaments. He’s already created a list of places where some of his most memorable moments took place.
This is far from the first badge for tennis fans. Sony Ericsson sponsored one for women’s tennis events and the US Open sponsored one that could be unlocked by tennis fans and players during last year’s tournament.
Tennis fans, what do you think of the badge?
