Bowlers get their own foursquare badge

You never know what badge foursquare is going to come out with next. Today they’ve launched a new one just for bowlers, the 7-10 Split badge. It’s unclear just how many times you’ll need to check in at a bowling alley to earn the badge.
The unlock text reads:
You’ve shown your loyalty to the lanes, cooking up one hot turkey after the next. Now see if you can crash that 8-year-old’s birthday party. That cake looks good!
Are you a bowler? What do you think of the 7-10 Split badge?

I’ve enjoyed bowling in the past, so it looks like in the near future I’ll be enjoying it some more so I can earn this badge.
Yet another example of 4SQ inspiring someone to go out and do something that might not have been on their normal agenda.
How many times i must Check in at one place to get the Badge
Nice badge…
My guess is 7 to 10 check ins will get this badge.
Sweet! I love bowling. I wonder how many check-ins it’ll take to unlock. I’ve gone bowling at least 2-3 times in the past 2 months alone. This gives me even more incentive to go out and get my bowl on now.
This will not be an issue since I’m a league bowler.
Yeah, I figured you’d have no problem with this one. They just tore down our local bowling alley, so I’m going to have to find a new one.
i unlocked this badge at lucky strike lanes in NYC
Hey Poppah Taek! After how many check-ins did it take u to get the badge?
not sure i think this was my 4th maybe 5th time checkin in a bowling spot
Desbloqueei o meu só com 1 check-in nessa venue: http://foursquare.com/venue/2673976
this badge takes 10 check-ins to obtain, and they are retroactive…
Not for me. I have 12 check-ins at the alley I have league at, and no badge for me.
It’s highly unlikely the badge requires that many checkins. More likely is that you stupid bastards have run into a new quirk of Foursquare’s anti-cheating code.
Well, I wouldn’t go with stupid bastards, but the guy with 12 check-ins and no badge could very well be a Foursquare Mobile user. I got it with my 10th check-in at the local alley, but that’s just a matter of when the badge was released. The example in this blog post when you click on the link, “Tim” has 6 check-ins at his local alley.
Awesome looking badge, definitely will make me want to go bowling.
sorry, I’m not english, so I don’t really get the unlock text. I mean, I get the literal sense, but I think they are common sayings, could you please help a poor italian girl?
turkey = 3 strikes in a row
there are always young children having birthday parties at bowling alleys in the states, so it’s rather funny to say “hey that cake looks good! let’s go crash that 8 year old’s party!”
thanks a lot
My area is loaded with bowling alleys , have checked into 12 so far, no badge yet
Ahh Haa! So the “7-10 Split” tag is needed with 1 checkin. Maybe?
Since I already saw it linked to that venue above… I just want to point out…
ADDING A TAG OF “7-10 SPLIT” HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BADGE.
Kind of annoyed with having to remove unnecessary “jetsetter” and “douchebag” tags everywhere already. These have zero control over the badges… wish more people realized this.
I love this badge I have been a bowler for 20 plus years and I have been wondering when this badge was gonna come around and now it’s here thanks 4square.
I was pretty disappointed with this badge. I submitted an idea for a bowling badge a few months ago called the “Kingpin” badge. My idea was to unlock it by becoming the mayor of a bowling alley. In my opinion, makes more sense than “7-10 split.” I even saved them the trouble and designed it myself: http://kylewbarron.com/img/kingpin.png
I like the “Kingpin” badge name
Badges that require mayorships would encourage even more horrific cheating than Foursquare already experiences. Non-cheaters would never be able to get a bowling alley mayorship.
Which actually lets me bring up something I’ve been meaning to mention: Has anybody else noticed that some of the whackjobs at Matters of Grey are telling people that new badges like “Ski Bum” and “7-10 Split” require a mayorship to unlock? Those idiots just keep getitng more and more idiotic in encouraging deviant behavior.
Michael. I understand and share your frustration, but would also encourage you to remember, it’s a social app. A game. I’ve seen a few posts from you now, and trust me, Foursquare is nothing to get hot and bothered about… it’s only meant to be fun.
I’ve checked into my local bowling alley five times total, four of which have been in the last two months, and the fifth check-in unlocked the badge. It is the only bowling alley I’ve ever checked into. Hope that helps
I unlocked this last night. I’m a league bowler and check in once a week at those lanes. Last night I checked into a different bowling alley and got the badge.
Make sure the alley’s that you’re checking into are properly categorized. It’s a category specific badge.
I like the badge but I think there are to many pins. Shouldn’t it just be the 7 and 10 pins?
I have a question, i often check-in at a bowling alley but that place has tha categorie “Sports Bar”, i did add a tag to this venue “Bowling Alley” but will foursquare see this venue as a bowling alley?
I think bowling alley must be the primary category, but I don’t know that for sure.
I checked in 3 times in one month, at the same bowling alley each time, and received the badge. Primary category is bowling alley too.
